California. The Eastern Sierra. We took it in. I'd never seen the columns on Crowley Lake. Some of the stones there float. We walked up a hill to the ashram by Tuttle Creek. We pushed through fissures and jumped over them. Out by Mono Lake. Wondered at the tufa, at the salinity, thought about the Mono people, the migrating birds. The wind tousled the Alabama Hills. It took a tent. Wild Willy's, Owens River, Mount Tom, Wheeler Crest, Sherwin Plateau. Bachar's circuit looked hard.
